Who's to say its all worth it?

What is the point of working if you are not living the life you are working for. That is the problem with the work culture of these days, 12-20 hours at the office, work on the weekends, and even when you're not on your computer you are on your phone emailing, responding to quick texts and calls from work associates. When do you breathe, live? The corporate race has become a do or die environment now, if you are not at the top of your game you lose and you will be replaced. There is no loyalty for performance, tenure or any other goodwill you might have earned. It is all now or never. This race can be thrilling for some that are well motivated. By motivation I mean monetary of ofcourse. But for those who are made to perform on frugal salaries that hardly last through the month, it can be overwhelming and highly frustrating, if not unfair. But what the companies don't realise is these are the people they need, if all hard-working employees were to leave you and only the ones that remained were the ones you were overpaying, how would you get any work done? I may be minimizing the whole corporate setup but this is how we see it, 'we' the employees, 'we' are your company, without us you are just a group of people with lofty ideas.

It's not worth it. It's not worth the stress. Your health, happiness and life depend on it. Yes, it is a matter of life and death now, more and more of the young and ambitious are dying after having taken their own lives due to the stress. You may feel like you're not one of them but so did they all the while they were still alive. You never know when that trigger will come when you cannot take it anymore, when you have been beaten down so bad you don't have the energy to get back up. It is time to act now for the sake of your sanity and the life you planned for yourself. You may not have a life in the country of your dreams, in the house of your dreams or driving the car of your dreams but you will have yourself and your undying spirit intact, you will still toil and work hard but in a job that fulfills you mentally. We have all studied hard and dreamt lofty dreams of being at this place, but once you're there you will realize it is all just smoke. Where you really want to be is back home, with your family, in the comfort of your own sanity.

To err is human

To err is human we say

Let’s make errors…

Let’s be erroneous to the point of no return,

For what is stopping us but a little law,

A conscious of sorts that is judgmental

A louder voice that speaks in a commanding tone

It forbids and it allows and it wears us down with guilt

And we ear and we follow obedient to dictation

Until we stop listening

And then we blame our governments and our religion,

We warn our children and we point violent fingers,

When it was us all along…

If only we had continued listening to that voice

The voice of caution and the voice of reason

All it took was a little attention

But blame we will truly and surely

And we will take it to our grave

When our children stand above us

With heavy hearts and watery eyes,

And as they pray for our soul…they will raise their fingers one last time

To point… to blame… to owe it all

To the government,

To the world

And to the guy above
